We were called out to an apartment in Midtown when a homeowner found what they feared to be was a Bed Bug. Minutes into conducting our search our highly trained NESDCA certified K9 alerted on the couch and mattress. We visually confirmed that live bugs were indeed crawling around!
Upon inspecting the surrounding apartments we found a hoarder living RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the very clean and concerned homeowner that had initially reached out to us. When we walked into the hoarders apartment there was trash everywhere and flies zipping across the room. We didn't have to look far to see the mother load of bed bugs! It turns out that the hoarders bed was positioned right up against a wall that was neighboring our unsuspecting homeowners apartment. We found swarms of Bed Bugs and fecal matter on the mattress, baseboards and all around the electrical outlets as well. This hoarder had a heavy infestation that was quickly spreading to the rest of the building and nobody including management had the slightest clue this was going on.
After some pressure from management the hoarder was forced to clean up his apartment and both the hoarder and our unfortunate homeowner were both successfully exterminated. After the extermination was complete we came back for a clearance k9 bed bug inspection to see if the problem was truly gone. There was zero bed bug activity detected and everybody was relieved.
